Not only is Scandinavia the source of the latest trends in interior design, it is also a leader in the field of sustainability and related innovations in technology and materials. Nordbygg, one of the biggest trade shows in the construction industry, takes place in the heart of the Scandinavian peninsula in Stockholm’s Älvsjö district.
More than 35,000 visitors attended the 2024 edition of Nordbygg, which took place on April 23–26. Among the exhibitors were 900 companies and 5000 of their representatives. Nordbygg introduced a wide variety of new ideas in the area of sustainable technology, especially in the use of solar energy. The theme of sustainability was reflected in many of the products offered by the exhibitors and in the presentations of several speakers at the event.

Our goal at the trade show was to meet with customers, learn more about new technologies, and highlight TechniStone® engineered stone as one of the sustainable materials on display.
Vladimír Zajiček, our senior export manager, represented Technistone. We asked Vladimír about his impressions of the trade show.
Which customers did you have a chance to meet the trade show?
We met with Granitop, Granimar, Stone Center, and Nerostein, which had their own stands, as well as Herrljunga Terazzo Design and KVIK.
What about TechniStone® most interested the visitors to the show?
The main thing was its use with induction technology in the kitchen and its thermal and color stability. There were also many questions about the recyclability of the material (which was a main theme of the whole event). Another common theme was how to maintain the material and its uses in design.
Based on the event, can you predict the direction in which the trends in interior design are heading?
I see bold and pastel-colored backgrounds with subtle designs and multicolored veining. Large-format tiles for walls and floors will play a major role as well.
